Thomond Community College first-year girls – Olivia Marcus, Rhema Olushola and Lily Smite were successful in reaching the Regional Pitch Event in Dublin on May 10th. Here they showcased their app they had carefully thought out and coded over the last 12 weeks. This programme was in partnership with Teen-Turn and their teacher Ms. O’ Callaghan. Teen Turn empowers post-primary girls, particularly those from disadvantaged and underrepresented communities, by providing hands-on STEM experiences, mentorship, and long-term support. Through free after-school programs, summer work placements, exam prep, and alumnae development, girls aged 14–15 gain exposure to real-world STEM environments. Partnering with DEIS schools, Teen-Turn helps participants build confidence, skills, and networks needed for third-level education and future careers.
