Culinary
Why did I decide to take the culinary course?
I decided to do the culinary course because I didn't know how to cook and required cooking as it is a great personal skill and exploring possible career choices in the future. It offers the opportunity to learn how to cook and bake. Culinary also helps you develop your social skills and helps you to learn to work as a team. Before I started culinary, I couldn’t prepare many dishes. I want to be able to cook and prepare healthy meals.
What are the activities that are carried out throughout the session?
When we go to culinary, we cook dinners, we clean our stations and our equipment, we bake stuff like cookies, we eat the food we make because we get to bring it home and have fun.
How long is it and when do you go?
Culinary is usually 3-3.5 hours long and is every Wednesday.
Is there an exam?
I don't think there is an exam for culinary but there are competitions at the end of the course.
What do you wear and equipment do you use?
I wear a white cooking gown, an apron and a hat.
We use knives, chopping boards, pots, pans, spoons, wooden spoons, cookers and bowls.

Barista
Why did I decide to take the barista course
I took the barista course to develop practical skills in coffee preparation and customer service while exploring a potential career in the coffee industry. It offers the chance to learn the art of brewing espresso, steaming milk, and creating coffee based drinks, while also improving communication and teamwork skills in a dynamic environment.
It also has a opportunity for part time even full time jobs and it’s also a great skill to have.
What are the activities
The activities are pretty simple, all we do is stand and watch the teacher and basically copy what she does. Then there's theory, the theory part is very simple too, all she does is give us hand-out notes and talks about coffee and the history of coffee, there's no writing involved but if you want to write down extra notes you can. And then at the end of the day we clean-up which normally takes 30 minutes to an hour
The barista class is one every Friday for 8 weeks up in the College of Further Education
