To the community of Thomond Community College,
I feel incredibly honoured to be addressing this school community as the first Deputy Principal of Thomond Community College. It is a responsibility and honour that I take on with great enthusiasm and a commitment. I endeavour through my every day actions and overall vision to support Thomond Community College in fulfilling its’ motto; A.C.E, Appreciate, Celebrate & Educate.
I started my career as a Biology and Science teacher in Ennis Community College/Gaelcholáiste an Chláir. I started my Deputy Principal experience there in 2009. Since then I have been very lucky to be the area representative on the National Executive of the PDA (Principal and Deputy Principal Association of Ireland). I have also worked with the Professional Development Services for Teachers in the Area of Leadership & Development. I hope that the experience I bring with me enriches the already established high standards of teaching & learning in Thomond Community College.
As a mother of 3 I know the joys and challenges parenting can bring. I thank you, as parents and guardians, for choosing to entrust Thomond Community College with the privileged task of educating your son or daughter to greatness. I know that the committed and caring staff here takes their role in this process very seriously. As a staff we undertake to develop the human, spiritual and academic potential of your child.
The college can boast of one of the finest campuses in the city, with the Thomond Rugby Grounds and Limerick Institute of Technology in our sights. The light flooded corridors of the college provide a perfect social environment for the students and the exceptionally equipped classrooms facilitate a quality learning experience for all.
I am looking forward to building an inclusive school community with the teachers, students and parents; one that reflects our core value of having a student centred school. We as a college have a clear statement that we value and appreciate students in our care, we celebrate and recognise the achievements and events in their lives and we educate, in a holistic and person centred way, developing the mental, moral, and social capabilities of our students.
Vivienne Hogan, Deputy Principal
